In the series of photographs presented by Martin Parr in the exhibition "Self-portraits", he sees his portrait as a reflection of his individual and social identity, in dialogue with personal and collective memory. At the end of the 20th century and the dawn of the 21st, Martin Parr set out, travelling around the the globe on professional international media assignments, being photographed in studios and photobooths in every corner of the world. His form thus gradually took place, physically or digitally, in diverse settings, designed to validate stereotypes or give birth to new ones. For twenty years (1996-2015) Parr surrendered himself, with unruffled style, to the hands of his fellow artists, being the conscious prey of a mechanism of standardised images.
