“A Portrait of Volos”
Dimitris Letsios’ body of work now enjoys a well-deserved position in the story of Greek photography. This exhibition presents an anthology of photographs from his native city, Volos, spanning the broader postwar period. Continuing his interests in the Thessalian rural farmer, here he focuses on the simple subsistence workers, children, the folk market, the landscapes that the Pagasitic Gulf generously offers. Letsios traversed the body of the city in a quest to discover unseen aspects, moments and scenes that were clearly distanced from the official ideological facade, revealing an elliptical yet profoundly human face of Volos.
