MOMus participates again this year in the Thessaloniki International Book Fair, the great book festival in the city, with the MOMusStand at Pavilion 14, Stand 15, and a speech event on Saturday, May 10 at 19:00, at Pavilion 15, for the presentation of the two-volume illustrated encyclopedic dictionary by Apostolos Fokion Vettas, “Scenes. Notes on the Art and Technique of Scenography”.

Selected shop items and publications-catalogues from current and past exhibitions from all MOMus museums will be available at the Organization's Stand, at the 21st Thessaloniki International Book Fair. New "arrivals" at this year's Stand are the Organization's magazine the MOMus Magazine, with many interesting topics, and the online store, MOMusShop, with hundreds of codes, ready for browsing and shopping!

Presentation of a two-volume illustrated encyclopedic dictionary by Apostolos Fokionas Vettas, “Scenes. Notes on the Art and Technique of Scenography”.

The event concerns the presentation of the two-volume illustrated encyclopedic dictionary on scenography, stage architecture and theatrical technology entitled “A. F. Vettas. Scenes. Notes on the Art and Technique of Scenography”, the life’s work of Apostolos Vettas, a highly educational contribution published by MOMus under his supervision and with the support of the Ioannis F. Kostopoulos Foundation. The dictionary is written in a simple way, so that it also functions as a teaching aid for young people who want to get involved in theatre.

The publication was first presented last January on the occasion of the opening of the exhibition “Apostolos Vettas. Paper Scenes” which is presented at MOMus-Museum of Modern Art-Costakis Collection at Moni Lazariston, Thessaloniki and will conclude on May 18, after two extensions due to large attendance.

Speakers: Apostolos Vettas, professor emeritus of scenography at the Department of Theater of the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Kostas Vomvolos, musician, Maria Karadeloglou, theater expert, costume designer, set designer. Angelos Papadimitriou, visual artist, actor. Coordination: Maria Tsantsanoglou, artistic director of MOMus-Museum of Modern Art-Costakis Collection.

The second issue of the MOMus magazine is here!

Exhibitions and projects in all MOMus venues, backstage stories by dear colleagues, a special focus on visual artists of great interest, plus special, unknown stories of works of art and gastronomic and fashion proposals, are just some of the themes of this second issue.

Additionally, we are hosting a full-length interview with the Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni, on Culture as a public, and social asset, Thessaloniki and its prospects, antiquities and contemporary culture, among many other topics.

Our "guests" in this issue are: Gikas Xenakis - executive chef of the Aleria restaurant in Athens, Apostolos F. Vettas - Emeritus Professor of Scenography at the Drama School of the Faculty of Arts of AUTh, Kyriaki Gonis - visual artist, Prodromos Monastiridis - President of the Board of Directors of the Thessaloniki Convention Bureau.

The issue, bilingual both in Greek and English, is available in all MOMus locations in Thessaloniki and Athens, online at https://issuu.com/momusmuseums and at the Aegean Airlines lounge in Thessaloniki.

Greetings for Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

All MOMus venues will remain closed on 25 & 26 December 2023 and 01 & 06 January 2024.

All venues will adjust the opening hours on 24 & 31 December 2023 and will be open to the public until 14:00.

*On 28 December 2023 and on 04 January 2024, MOMus-Museum Alex Mylona will be open to the public between 11:00-19:00.
