However, due to its specific use - mainly for commercial purposes - the pulses of the city and its residents have not permeated this location, despite its central location. What are the possible new stories of this space? Instead of seeing it as a space we already know through a memory-screen, we dare to explore new perspectives beyond the relationships that define it.

Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF Helexpo): an inter-artistic space. The art of contemporary circus along with digital art.

While the art of contemporary circus is internationally popular, it remains relatively underdeveloped in Greece. Our country lacks accredited schools or artistic tradition, although the few circus artists in Greece are exceptional and beloved.

The innovation of the above action is based on combining European expertise in the art of contemporary circus with the experimentation of the Eye's Walk Digital Festival in digital art and public space.

Circus is related to TIF Helexpo and the public memory of the city, as the presentation of international circus artists in its facilities was widespread and highly anticipated until the 1970s.

MOMus: Sensory wanderings/ Routes within the museum's spaces

Participants are invited to create wanderings, routes (auditory, visual, verbal, performative, and combinations thereof) that will evolve within the MOMus spaces. These can constitute a new map of the affective atmospheres of the city and our world, inspired by the museum itself.

Routes can incorporate a variety of media such as verbal text, music, sounds, video art, sound art, oral narratives of the city's residents, etc.

Submission of works via the form here: https://forms.gle/9Rk68xZGVs5U6fgF7

Submission deadline until June 30, 2024.

For inquiries, send us a message at info@eyeswalk.gr

At this link, you can find material to understand the curatorial approach of the artistic production: “Thessaloniki: Affective Atmospheres (Part 1)”

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/8xikb18avpqe8t0xo2duw/Material-to-understand-the-curatorial-approach.pdf?rlkey=ah2cijxrjhhmkf8xgqkaogkbn&dl=0

THEDAF is based on an idea by the Eye's Walk Digital Festival and is supported by the Eye's Walk Digital Festival and the MOMus-Museum of Contemporary Art.

For more information about the Eye's Walk Digital Festival, you can find here: https://www.eyeswalk.gr/index.php/el/ and here: https://www.youtube.com/@eyeswalkdigitalfestivaleye418/videos

For more information about MOMus-Museum of Contemporary Art, you can find here: https://www.momus.gr/museum/museum-contemporary-art .

News Image

Museum

Museum of Contemporary Art

News Type

Open Calls

Wed, 15 May 2024 07:58:28 +0000 dimitra.samsaki 2693 at http://backend.momus.gr INSPIRE PROJECT 2021 | ΒΡΑΒΕΙΟ INSPIRE 2021 | ΑΝΟΙΧΤΗ ΠΡΟΣΚΛΗΣΗ ΣΥΜΜΕΤΟΧΗΣ http://backend.momus.gr/el/news/inspire-project-2021-brabeio-inspire-2021-anoihti-prosklisi-symmetohis INSPIRE PROJECT 2021 | INSPIRE PRIZE 2021 | OPEN CALL admin Tue, 08/03/2021 - 01:04

Along with the presentation of the exhibition “DOMΑ: From Plato’s cave to modern ‘reality’” until September 5, following the Inspire Project 2021 workshop run by this year's guest artist Stathis Mitsios, the MOMus–Experimental Center for the Arts and the Inspire Project invite artists who have produced works in the context of workshops or residency programmes to submit their applications for the Inspire Prize 2021.

The Inspire Project, introduced in its first version in 2012, functions as a platform for the support and promotion of contemporary Greek artistic creation through two main areas of action: a) the organisation of workshops for younger artists, guided by distinguished artists and aimed at younger artists, encouraging the production of new projects through participatory, workshop, educational processes and b) the promotion of works of art produced in the context of other workshops or residency programmes through the institution of the Inspire Prize.

The Inspire Prize is awarded to a visual artist, of any age or nationality, for artistic work produced in the context of any workshop or residency programme worldwide and distinguished for its conception, originality, the questions it poses and its relation to the space in which it has been presented and with which it potentially converses. The collective performance Silence, and silence is a performative act to investigate the dichotomy between decision-action, intuition-reaction. The body-instrument is treated as a vehicle to explore and define the relation to itself and to others, as well as the internal balance between the beginning-development-conclusion of each action. Through physical and concrete practices we aim to co-create a space-time map where collaborators are encouraged to deepen to the concept of responsibility: to frankly respond to the role of self, to the Ego in its leap over the ego to meet the Ego as an opportunity for change, critical action and responsibility. The idea of this project is intended to foster coherence and intuition, which serve as essential tools to creatively generate reactions and responses to events.

• We are looking to work with artists with no specific skills besides an active, critical and curious spirit.

• Full availability is required in the period: 21 - 24 October 2019.

• Preparation under our guidance: 21 - 24 October 2019, every day from 10:00 to 18:00.

In this preparation period, the selected artists will work intensively on physical practices which are centred on the body, the movement, the sound, the relation generated amongst them and the transition from the concept of an action to the realization of it. Their oeuvre and artistic research intertwine various performative languages, deepening the relationship between body movement and sound-motion. Durability, strength, precision and transformation are the cornerstones of their work.

Andrigo and Aliprandi's live performances are mainly conceived site-specific, often in places characterized by the full verticality and the consequent shiver of vertigo that it produces.

In their reference landscape, they move between philosophy, theatre, sound and movement experimentation by investigating an aesthetic that falls in love with detail and silence, as well with an entropic dynamic energy moved by emotions as enlightenment in the creative process. Their work favors shifting from comfort zones to places unknown yet — those invisible places where the performer needs to stand on the alert to trigger the creative act. They founded Vertical waves, a vertical dance company presenting performances all over the world.

mariannandrigo.it | aldoaliprandi.it | liveartscultures.org | verticalwavesproject.com

News Image

Museum

Experimental Center for the Arts

News Type

Open Calls

Wed, 23 Oct 2019 22:04:44 +0000 admin 2398 at http://backend.momus.gr
