MOMUS bids farewell to Yannis Bouteas, an innovative artist of the Greek post-war period, with an international presence and a constant interest in the search for new forms.
Bouteas investigated with great care and consistency the juxtapositions and sequences of form and space, concepts and materialities, materials and energy, transforming light and geometry into new structures and spatial experiences. He was an exponent of a simple plastic art that combined neon with technology and space in a poetic and original way. From the initial trust shown in him by Alexandros Iolas and after his retrospective exhibition at the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art in 2004, he remained close to the Museum of Contemporary Art. His works in the collection of MOMUS-Museum of Contemporary Art are irrefutable witnesses of his creative and thoughtful commitment to art.As MOMUS, we express our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.
